Christmas 2008

We leave for Idaho tomorrow so our day is rather chaotic- filled with packing, cleaning, taking down the Christmas tree, entertaining the kids, etc, etc, etc...As a result I don't really have time to narrate these Christmas photos. Lets just leave it at 'Christmas was AWESOME! We were all very spoiled. Life is good!'

Oh Santa...

I already have all I want for Christmas...

I'm drinking from my saucer 'cause my cup is overflowing.

Who is in charge around here?

Me: "Hailey, what do you want for lunch today?"
Hailey: "Mommy, I don't know why you feel like you have to ask me so many questions."
Again I ask, are you serious?!?

Oh Christmas Tree...

We bought our tree last week at Lowe's. We tried to support the local market where we bought our tree last year, you know support the local economy. But as it turns out the local economy has experienced some steep inflation over the past year and our tree was half priced at the nationwide chain. Hey, we're all hurting in this economy ok?!

It was awfully chilly, but that didn't stop us.

Hailey, ever the adventurer, soon found the wild animal petting zoo.

Hailey went through each and every ornament and wanted to know the fun details behind every one...every SINGLE one!

For some reason she wasn't very interested in putting the ornaments on the tree. She wanted to talk about them, touch them, approach the tree with them, but very few were actually hung on the branches. I was feeding beefcake buddah boy, so Jona ended up decorating the tree mostly by himself- but we did watch enthusiastically.

Night on the town

Last Friday we had a Maupin family date night out. We were going to go to dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory, one of Jona's favorites, but Hailey reasoned that old spaghetti would be disgusting and probably make her throw up. So instead we went to the New Spaghetti Factory- a lot like the old one, but no throwing up. After dinner we watched the downtown Nashville Christmas parade. It was 28 degrees.
While the parade was fun to watch, the Christmas lights on the light posts were rather beautiful too.
Who is that???? Riding on that sleigh???? Could it be?????

SANTA!!!!!

Every other float in the parade was playing traditional Christmas carols, Santa's sleigh was playing Beyonce. Sometimes I don't get this city.

Too smart

In the bathroom at the local library changing Parker's diaper...
Hailey: "Blah, blah, blah, blah........."
Me: "Hailey, why do you have to talk ALL the time?"
Hailey: "Just making conversation mommy."
Are you serious?
